Crafted on traditional, low-tension loopwheelers, Studio D’Artisan’s ‘Tsuri-ami’ T-shirts feature seamless sides for an exceptional fit and unbeatable comfort. The T-shirts are loopwheeled at the Kanekichi workshops of Wakayama, Japan—one of only two workshops in the world with an operational circular loopwheel machine.

The loopwheeling process results in a heavyweight, textured tee that provides the perfect canvas for the craftsmen of Japan’s Amami Ōshima Island. Here, the garments are individually hand-overdyed using a natural “Dorozome” mud dye method.

The result is a nuanced blend of earthy browns; a beautifully varied finish that simply could not be achieved via synthetic dye techniques. Over time, the Dorozome top coat will wear and fade to reveal the whites beneath. This is a truly beautiful interplay of colour and craft. We’d expect nothing less from Studio D’Artisan.
