What lends lambswool its fine, soft texture is the fact that it comes from the lamb's very first sheering when it is just seven months old. Since the wool comes from a very young lamb, it is soft and more luxurious compared to other types of wool. Owing to its naturally crimped fibers lambswool creates extra insulation and keeps the wearer warm during winter. Merino wool on the other hand comes from merino sheep at any age. Its ultra-fine follicles have a micron count ranging between 20-23, lending it a super-soft, fine texture. 

Inspiration And Technique 

The Northeast and Northern Isles of Scotland sit at the core of this line as an inspirational backdrop. United collaborated with a local heritage Scottish knitwear producer for the inception of this collection. Since 1929 the producers of these knits have refined and redefined their technical know-how. Once you observe closely you will realize that none of the sweaters feature heavy side seams and in fact, embody a sense of lightness. That's because the entire collection is knitted employing the "in the round" flatbed tubular method, which produces a garment without bulky side seams and reduces cast-offs from the machines.

Lending an extra character to these sumptuous knitted pieces is the usage of the artisan teasel brushing technique. It lifts the base fiber giving the pieces a unique finish. 

There are pieces made in merino and cashmere blends then there are sweaters made in 100% Scottish lambswool. Additionally, there are cardigans and turtlenecks too, available in cashmere and lambswool.
